Overview

Feeding Frenzy is a fantasy shark attack league where participants draft coastal regions and score points based on real shark activity — sightings, bites, and fatalities — reported globally.

Think of it like fantasy football, but with sharks. You pick your territories, monitor real-world shark news, and climb the leaderboard as events unfold. The ocean is unpredictable — every day brings new chances to score.

Getting Started

1. Create or join a league using an invite code shared by a friend. If you're starting fresh, become the commissioner and send your code to others.
2. Leagues hold up to 6 players — just enough to keep it competitive without the schedule gridlock.
3. The commissioner starts the draft when everyone has joined. Once the draft begins, the clock is ticking.

The Draft

• 32 coastal regions worldwide are available to draft — from the Florida East Coast to Australia's Gold Coast, South Africa to the Mediterranean.
• Lowest-performing regions are automatically removed so picks divide evenly among players (e.g., 30 for 3 players, 30 for 5, etc.). Every player gets the same number of picks.
• Snake draft order: Round 1 goes 1 → 2 → 3 → ... and Round 2 reverses back 8 → 7 → 6 → ..., ensuring fairness.
• Each player picks one region per round until all available slots are filled.
• Once a region is picked, it's locked — no other player can take it. Choose wisely.

Scoring

Points are earned whenever a shark event is confirmed in one of your drafted regions:

• Points are awarded to whichever player drafted that region — multiple players never share credit for the same event.
• Multiple events can score in the same region on the same day. A single busy beach could net you 2 (sighting) + 5 (bite) = 7 points in one afternoon.
• The AI news scraper runs daily, searching verified reports from news outlets, wildlife agencies, and beach safety services globally.

Season & Winning

• Seasons run from August 1 to a predetermined end date set by the league commissioner.
• Daily summaries show who scored, how many points, and exactly what happened — no hunting through news feeds.
• The player with the most total points at the end is crowned champion.
• Post-season analysis grades each player's draft performance (A–F) so you know who made genius picks and who was shark bait.
